Happy 2014! It’s always exciting to start off a new year, with new resolutions and plans to make ourselves better. For some it may be to hit the gym, and for other it may be to eat better, as health usually takes a center stage after we indulge during the holidays. For me, it is more yoga this year (along with a few other things). In my quest for haute yoga experiences I ran into a few which are really interesting, and worth looking into for any aspiring yogi!
Yoga Journal Live! in San Francisco (Jan 16 – 20) – this weekend-long yoga fest is taking place at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in SF, and features tons of classes, workshops, and day long intensives with a lot of master teachers doing special sessions (i.e. Baron Baptiste, Scott Blossom, and more). Check out all the fun events at http://www.yjevents.com/sf/. And if you want to check out Yoga Journal Live! events in other cities, check out http://www.yjevents.com.
Personal Retreats – I found out about personal yoga retreats from a site dedicated to booking yoga retreats around the world, bookyogaretreats.com. Personal retreats are all about you, allowing you the flexibility to attend yoga classes, hike, or just wander at institutes, like the Mount Madonna Center in Monteray, CA.
Yoga workshops and retreats – looking for more structure and intensive learning, many yoga centers and sites offer day and week long retreats and workshops…sounds like a perfect getaway!
I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to a wonderful, haute and healthy 2014!!
If you are like me and love a good, yet fun, yet hard workout, and are looking for classes which keep you motivated, I have a few great tips from my recent experiences, and some to look forward to!
Classtivity.com – This is the ultimate class pass (called your Passport), as it allows you to take up to 10 classes in a month at a variety of gyms/dance studios/yoga and pilates studios and more. It’s only $49, and features great names like Pure Barre and Jivamukti Yoga (In NYC). I attended classes at these studios, and other studios and spots, and still have a few days left on my passport to try a few more. You can also use Classtivity in cities other than NYC, so be sure to check it out!
MDanceFitness.com – I love, love, love the classses I have taken at M Dance Fitness so far. They are super high energy, have great music, and keep me motivated at 8pm when I usually can make them. I went to my first class using Classtivity, which got me hooked! I love the Dance Cardio Combo class with Victoria Mayo, it kicks my butt!
Cross-fit Hells Kitchen – I have been wanting to try this for a while now, and may be compelled to as I saw the living social deal today for 1 month of unlimited cross Fit.
Physique 57 – I loved my first Physique experience, though it was a bit pricey at $40 bucks a pop. It was fast paced, involved weights, and kept me going – a great combo.
Whatever your workout style, here’s to getting out there and moving more!
NYCGO.com is featuring some splendid deals for the best cultural and epicurial deals in January and February, including my favorite (Restarant Week), as well as Broadway and Off-Broadway week. Checkout the website for all the details!
Restaurant Week (Jan 14 – Feb 8) features 3 course lunches for $25, and dinners for $38 at some of NY’s hottest restaurants. This is a great time to get out and try a haute spot you have been wanting to try!
Broadway Week (Jan 22 – Feb 2) features tickets to the hottest shows, including “The Heiress” and “Once”, at 2-for-1 prices. I snagged tickets to see “Nice Work if you Can Get It” with Matthew Broderick for a cool $56 a pop. A must do for any Broadway lover!
Off-Broadway Week (Jan 28 – Feb 10) showcases some cool Off-Broadway hits, like Avenue Q (also a favorite) at 2-for-1 ticket prices. Be sure to take a look and grab the haute seats you are looking for.
