Friday #Photo-cation, San Francisco, CA: Haute Travel

The iconic Golden Gate Bridge is a welcome sight to all who visit SF, but do you know where this view is from? It’s from the equally iconic China Beach, the spot where many early Chinese settlers and those who worked on the famous bridge called home on the peninsula in the sea. Very haute and historic indeed.

Have a happy Friday and weekend ahead!

Hotel Zetta in San Fran is a modern retreat and a step ahead the rest: Haute Travel

I recently stayed at the newly renovated Hotel Zetta on a recent visit to San Francisco, and was blown away by the fun and hip environment they had created.  This spot is part of the Viceroy Hotel Group, which speaks to its charm, and is located in the iconic Union Square area of the city.  The area is “up and coming” in some ways, but is a tourist haven and home to classic hotels like the Sir Francis Drake, among others.

Hotel Zetta is a cut above the rest though, as a business hotel which provides its guests with all the amenities plus a good dose of fun.  As you walk into the lobby, you will be stuck by the modern bar area, wacky and cool elements (like eye glass chandeliers – made from recycled eye glasses), and the giant plinko game (pictured below).  This is just a glance into the experience which awaits.

As I discussed with the front desk employees, I learned the hotel strives to use recycled and reusable materials in their design elements, adding a bit of whimsy along with functionality and sustainability.  As you ascend to the 2nd floor, you are greeted with a huge gaming area, with pool table, shuffleboard table, and much more.  A great way to release after a long day of work.

Upon entering my room, I was surprised to find a spacious retreat (unlike other SF hotel rooms) with a huge and cool bathroom (with luxury products) and state of the art entertainment center including a smart TV.  Each morning I was able to brew some yummy Illy coffee in my room, and hit the 4th floor gym area for a little exercise.

All in all, this seems like a great addition to the SF Hotel scene, and is a hotel I hope to visit again on my next trip out west.  It’s great for business travelers, but would be fun for personal trips as well, as it combines fun elements, with great luxury amenities.
